Hall of Fame Inductees
Josh Diaz, Athlete (Class of 2005)
Josh Diaz was inducted into the Hall of Fame predominantly for his basketball prowess, although he was also on the track team. Josh is perhaps the most decorated boys basketball player in Southern Local history. He set and still holds records for career points (1,487), rebounds (872), and steals (265). His senior year, Josh led the team to a 13-10 record and a Sectional Championship. Josh's honors include: 1st Team Tri-County League, 1st Team All County, and 3rd Team All Ohio.
Julie Smith Dowling, Athletic/Contributor (Class of 1984)
Julie Smith Dowling was inducted into the Hall of Fame as an athlete/contributor. Julie was outstanding in volleyball and basketball. Julie contributed to both volleyball and basketball winning a Tri-County Championship and being Sectional and District Champs. The basketball team, Julie's junior year, was also District Runner-Ups. For her efforts, Julie was the recipient of many post season awards.
Marc Leffler, Athlete (Class of 1992)
Marc Leffler was inducted into the Hall of Fame as an athlete, specifically a basketball player. Marc was a four year letter winner and received the following awards for his efforts: 2nd Team Tri-County League; 1st Team Tri-County League; 1st Team All County; 1st Team All County; 1st Team All Northeast Ohio; and Special Mention All Ohio. Marc also played in the Columbiana County All Star Game. Marc was named Player of the Week several times in both the Evening Review and the Morning Journal.
Teresa Brown Rice, Athlete (Class of 1981)
Teresa Brown Rice was inducted into the Hall of Fame as an athlete. Teresa participated in four years of volleyball and basketball and one year of track. Teresa contributed to volleyball teams that went 17-3, 15-5, 19-4 and were Tri-County, Sectional and District Champs and Regional Runner Ups all three years. Teresa received 2nd Team ITCL and All County accolades two years in a row, Teresa was a three year letter winner in basketball and also a part of three Tri-County Championships and two Sectional and District Championship teams.
