Hall of Fame Inductees
Amy Barlis, Athlete (Class of 1987)
In Amy Barlis two varsity seasons, she lead the volleyball team to 18-15 and 11-11 records, contributing 121 points, 509 spikes, 11 blocks, 25 dinks, and 4 aces. Amy's senior year, she earned the following honors; 1st Team TCL; 3rd Team Evening Review; 2nd Team All County and MVP at the Wellsville Tournament.
Scott Crawford, Athlete (Class of 1994)
Scott Crawford established the first ever field goal record at Southern Local High School, a record that stood for 16 years. Scott was named Morning Journal Player of the Week. In football, Scott received the following awards: 1st Team TCL; 1st Team Quad County; 1st Team All Area; and 1st Team Penn-Ohio All Star Game. In basketball, Scott also earned the following awards: Al Girone Award; 2nd Team TCL Defense his junior year; and 1st Team Defense and the Southern Local Defensive Award his senior year.
John C. Ewing, Contributor (posthumously)
John C. Ewing is being inducted posthumously for his contributions to the Southern Local School District. Se served on the school board for 28 years and was instrumental in getting the football field established at its current location.
Nate Jones, Athlete (Class of 2004)
Nate Jones earned 11 varsity letters in his four years at Southern Local High School. Nate set two records - Most takes in a season for football and shot put in track. Nate earned the following awards: 1st Team Tri-County League; 1st Team Quad County; and 1st Team All District. Nate received the MVP Award and played in the Penn-Ohio All Star Game. A four year varsity letter winner in track, Nate received the High Point Field Award in shot put.
Matt Leffler, Athlete (Class of 1990)
Matt Leffler is being inducted as a football and basketball athlete. Matt earned varsity letters in both sports. Matt was a team leader on the first ever seeded basketball team. The team won Sectional Champs and District Runner Ups. Matt received the following honors: 1st Team All County; 2nd Team TCL; 2nd Team All District and Honorable Mention. Matt was also named Player of the Week several times.
