The Inaugural class of the Salineville-Southern Local Athlete Hall of Fame
Jayma Smith Allen, Athlete (Class of 1977)
Jayma Smith Allen was honored for her accomplishments in the early years of state volleyball and basketball. Jayma was named 1st Team TCL, Morning Journal, Salem Area, and Honorable Mention All State Basketball. She was on teams that went 44-0. In volleyball, she was the first woman selected as Athlete of the Month for US Steel and WFMJ/TV. She was also named 1st Team TCL and High School All American.
Scott Boyd, Athlete (Class of 1972)
Scott Boyd earned three football letters, three track letters, and one baseball letter. He earned first team honors All Columbiana County and was one of the first athletes in Southern Local history to participate in the State Track Meet. His relay team set two school records which still stands.
William Bucey, Coach (1970-1982)
William Bucey received "Coach of the Year" honors from District, County, Morning Journal, Salem News, and Evening Review. Bill coached from 1979-1982 in different sports but achieved great success in girls' basketball. His teams earned four consecutive TCL Championships, four consecutive Sectional Championships, three District Championships and three Regional appearances.

Bob Burns, Athlete (Class of 1990)
Bob Burns earned three football letters, two basketball letters, and three track letters during his time at Southern. Bob was a unanimous selection to 1st Team TCL in football as well as being named to several area newspapers All-Star Teams. He set the school record for career reception yardage (952). He also received recognition in basketball, but it was in track that he really stood out. Bob set school records in the 110 meter high hurdles, and the 200 meter hurdles, a record that still stands. He also placed first in the County Meet in the long jump and went to state in both the long jump and the 300 meter hurdles.
Oscar Gartrell, Contributor (1961-present)
Oscar Gartrell was honored for the many contributions he made to Southern Local during the twenty-eight years he served as band director. He wrote the Fight Song and Alma Mater for the newly formed district. He insisted on excellence from all the bands that he directed, took them to contests, took them to the Football Hall of Fame Parade (in Canton, Ohio), and did innovative things like black light shows.
Lana Corbisello Judy, Athlete (Class of 1982)
Lana Corbisello Judy earned nine varsity letters while at Southern Local. She retains the school records in basketball (51 points in one game and 1748 career points) and track (medley relay). She received 1st Team TCL, All County 1st Team and All Ohio honors in basketball. Her team won four consecutive TCL Championships and three District Championships..
Marlon "Mick" Logston, Athlete (Class of 1972) (Posthumously)
Marlon "Mick" Logston played football and ran track. He received multiple honors for his track career. The mile relay team of which he was a part placed first in the Stanton Invitational and the County Meet, was the first group of Southern Local Athletes to make it to the state track meet, and set the school record, a record which stills stands.
Brent Polen, Athlete (Class of 1986)
Brent Polen played basketball and ran track. He received 1st Team TCL, All Columbiana County, 2nd Team All District and Honorable Mention All State in basketball. He set school records for rebounds (22 per game and 602 career), and blocked shots (97 per season and 221 career).
Kathy Randolph, Athlete (Class of 1983)
Kathy Randolph played volleyball, basketball and ran track. She was on the TCL Championship Volleyball team and TCL Championship Basketball team, but it was track she really made her mark. Kathy broke records in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. She was also a member to the relay team that broke records in the 800m and 1600m. She qualified for the State Track Meet in the 200m.
Richard Rose, Athlete (Class of 1969)
Richard Row played football, basketball and track. In the 1968 football season, he scored 128 points (19 touchdowns and 7 two-point conversions). Richard received a numberer awards for his effort including All Ohio Honors.
Chrissy Dangelo Sargent, Athlete (Class of 1979)
Chrissy Dangelo Sargent played volleyball, basketball, and track. An outstanding athlete, Chrissy earned honors in all three sports: 1st Team TCL recognition in both volleyball and basketball as well as a number of other recognitions from area newspapers. She also received All State honors in basketball. In track, she holds the school record and County record for the long jump. She was also on the 440-yard relay that still holds the school record.
Larry Sargent, Athlete (Class of 1980)
Larry Sargent played football, basketball, and baseball. He received 1st Team TCL, All County, and The Evening Review All Star three years in a row for football. He also gained 2nd Team All State honors. He set school records in football (28 tackles in one game and 248 rushing yards in one game.)
Jim Williams, Athlete (Class of 1973)
Jim Williams played basketball and ran track. Jim receive a number of awards - County, district and regional for track. Jim still holds the school records for 400m and 1600 as well as being a part of the first relay team in school history to qualify for the State Track Meet.
