Hall of Fame Inductees

Amy Mobley Harker, Athlete (Class of 1982)

Amy Mobley Harker was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a three sport athlete. In volleyball, her sophomore year, with her help the reserve squad had a 14-1 record. Her junior year, the varsity squad had a 19-4 record. The squad was a Wellsville Tournament Runner-Up, TCL champs and District Runner-Up. Her senior year, the varsity squad  had a 18-7 record. The squad was TCL champ and District Runner-Up. 

In basketball, as a sophomore, Amy helped the team go 17-6. The team won the TCL, Sectional, District Championships and go to Regional. Her junior year, Amy was All-County Honorable Mention and 2nd Team TCL. The team won the TCL and were Sectional Runner-Up. The 81-82 season, Amy was Evening Review 3rd Team, Morning Journal Honorable Mention and 2nd Team TCL and County. The team record was 20-4. The team won the TCL, Sectional Champs and District Runner-Up.

In track, Amy was a standout in the high jump and discus. Amy's sophomore year, she won the TCL in discus and set the sectional record with a throw of 111'5". Her junior year, she was 3rd at the TCL meet but won the County meet in the discus. Her senior year, she was 2nd at the County, 5th at the TCL and District Champ in the discus. She tied for 4th in the high jump at TCL and qualified for Regional in both events. Her discus record stood for a long time at Southern Local.

Marcy Loch Zehentbauer, Athlete

Marcy Loch Zehentbauer was inducted into the HOF as a three sport athlete. Marcy received two varsity letters in volleyball, two in basketball and one in track. Marcy's statistics in volleyball included 138 points, 234 bumps, 134 spikes, 17 blocks, and 20 dinks. She was named 1st team TCL, 2nd team All County , and 2nd team District 1. Marcy was a member of the winning basketball team (20-4) that went to District Finals. She was a tri-captain her senior year for her leadership qualities. She was Honorable Mention All-County. In track, she received a varsity letter her senior year. She was a high jumper.

Robin Smith Higgins, Athlete

Robin Smith Higgins was inducted into the HOF as a two-sport athlete. Robin was outstanding in both volleyball and basketball. Awards Robin received for her contribution to the volleyball squad include: MVP, 1st team All County, 1st Team TCL, 1st team District 1 All Star, and 1st team Salem News and EL Review All Area Teams. In basketball, Robin received the Sophomore Award as a part of the 20-4 team that went as far as District finals and Co-TCL Champs. Her senior year, she also received the Senior Award and was a 1st team TCL All Star Team unanimous selection. She averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game to earn her these accolades.

Phillip Grodhaus, Athlete

Phillip Grodhaus was inducted into the HOF as a two sport, six varsity letter winner athlete. Phillip earned three letters in football and three letters in basketball. In football, Phillip was a defensive end and a running back as well as being captain his junior year. In basketball, Phillip was a standout, he earned a varsity letter every year. Phillip set the three-point shot record and single season assist record (88). He had career high assists of 278. For his efforts, Phillip received the following accolades; All County and TCL Honorable Mention, and he played in the County All Star game.

Nathan Melhorn, Athlete

Nathan Melhorn was inducted into the HOF as a three sport athlete. He earned four letters in football, two in basketball and two in baseball. Nathan received accolades for his football prowess: 2nd team All State RB, 1st team All District, 1st team ITCL RB, 1st team All County RB, The Review Offensive Player of the Year, Three times Quad County Coaches Association All-Star Team, and participant in the Penn-Ohio All Star game. Nathan held Southern Local's record for most rushing yards in a game with 307 and longest rush with 90 yards. The team went 7-3 his senior year.
